This month, the world’s very best footballers who aren’t quite good enough at football will clash in Bangkok. Of course, futsal is actually a vastly different game and its prime exponents are tremendously skilled athletes, but its global popularity would suggest that many still view it as ‘mini football’. Nonetheless, the Fifa Futsal World Cup will kick-off on November 1. Thailand qualified automatically as hosts and will finish bottom of a group containing Ukraine, Paraguay and Costa Rica, while fancy footwork fans should make an appointment to watch reigning world champions Brazil.
