Habib Salim Alatas, the Islam Defenders Front Jakarta branch chief told the Jakarta Post that Lady Gaga is not welcome in Indonesia. Her concert this month has been cancelled after the national police refused to issue a permit allowing her performance. It is reported more than 50,000 tickets, totalling nearly $2.5m, were sold for the one-off performance. The move by law enforcement agencies to ban the performance is a first in Indonesia. Jakarta was listed as one of the singer’s first stops in a worldwide tour, titled “The Born This Way Ball”.
