Digital Cambodia 2019 serves five primary goals, which include to:
1) establish a national platform to showcase Cambodia as an attractive destination for investment in digital and information technology;
2) encourage new digital technology startups, promote entrepreneurship and digital innovation;
3) exchange experiences, discuss trends and challenges in the technology sector, and what problems can be solved through digital technology;
4) discuss progress of the development of policies, legal framework, and education under which Cambodia’s digital economy may thrive; and
5) allow entrepreneurs and startups to develop their network, and meet with potential funding companies. Its ultimate goal is to prepare Cambodia for a digital economy, and to demonstrate the growth potential of digital technology.
His Excellency Dr. KAN Channmeta, Secretary of State at the Ministry of Posts and Telecommunications, who has played a central role in helping to create Digital Cambodia 2019 said, “Part of Cambodia’s top strategic economic initiatives, stipulated in the Rectangular Strategy, phase IV under the Sixth mandate of the Royal Government of Cambodia and in the Industry Development Policy 2025, are to better integrate into the regional and international economy, pivot toward a more diverse industrial base that supports long-term sustainable growth one hand, and is also attractive to investors interested in digital ventures and opportunities. Judging by the success and momentum this event generated, I am confident we will achieve our goals. In Cambodia, we have concrete measures underway to expand the telecommunications infrastructure across the country, and strengthen the quality and reliability of telecommunications systems and services. In addition, we are taking measures to ensure that the policy and legal framework that governs telecommunications systems and services allows digital technology to capitalize on investment opportunities, and efficiently and effectively deploy capital to high potential projects.”
