GuocoLand receives most nominations for the PropertyGuru Asia Property Awards (Singapore)

The PropertyGuru Asia Property Awards (Singapore) has announced its official shortlist of nominees ahead of its awards ceremony next month, with GuocoLand Singapore picking up a total of 12 nominations, four more than EL Development and Lian Beng Group in second place.
Guocoloand’s Tanjong Pagar Centre development, which includes a luxury condominium development inspired by the father of Singapore’s botanic gardens, Nathaniel Wallich, received special recognition, earning nods in a range of categories, including outstanding office, retail, hotel and condominium development and design.
Minkqee Tan, chairman of the judges and chief designer at Minkee Architects, said that standards had improved across the board, a welcome development he attributed to the increasingly interconnected nature of modern life.
“Increasing globalisation and internet exposure have no doubt added to the competition amongst Singaporean developers and, in doing so, raised the standard across the region,” said Minkqee Tan, chairman of the judges and chief designer at Minkee Architects.
“We’re excited to see that developers are plying their trade with more thoughtful products and are forced to embrace innovations and new features in order to stay ahead of the game.”
Alongside a panel of respected industry experts, Tan selected the final shortlist following a six-month judging process that included site inspections and intensive deliberations, and was supervised by local professional services firm BDO.
The panel will judge the shortlisted developments on their concept, design, pricing, environmental sustainability, amenities, construction quality, creativity and originality, with the award winners to be announced at the PropertyGuru Asia Property Awards Grand Final on 8 November.
Apart from the 2017 Singapore Real Estate Personality of the Year award, which will be chosen by editors of PropertyGuru Property Report magazine and the winner announced before the gala dinner, all 25 nominees were decided by the panel.
PropertyGuru Group’s CEO Hari V. Krishnan hopes the awards will both give the country’s flagging real estate a significant boost and underline the importance of environmental sustainability.
“This is an exciting time to celebrate the success of Singapore’s best developers as the market slowly rebounds due to increasing local and foreign demand,” he said.
“With this strong shortlist, we look ahead to the future of the domestic property sector that gives importance to sustainable and green amenities to suit the needs of consumers.”
