LINES OF THOUGHT ACROSS SOUTHEAST ASIA

Caring for Cambodia

It’s an age old adage that education is the backbone of a nation. Yet, the proverb still rings true across the world –   from country to country.

In Cambodia, while progressive steps have been made over recent years, obstacles remain within the education system – especially in the Kingdom’s rural communities.

Dropout rates remain high – especially among girls – teacher training is fragmented and the standard of school facilities varies from province to province. While the country has come far, there remains a way to go.

Over the following months, Caring for Cambodia, in collaboration with the Southeast Asia Globe, will look to explore the issues still present in the country’s education sphere. But also, importantly, shine a light on the immense steps made and the work being done to bring education and hope to generations of Cambodians to come.
